For the popularization and development of Pole dance culture in Bulgaria, we should especially thank to Sonya Kurteva. She created Sonya Pole studio in 2010, when Pole dance is not so popular in Bulgaria. It attracted her attention in 2007, and since then she has never stopped studying every detail of this “challenge for the human body.” For her Pole dance is an “inspiration and daily improvement of the balance between spirit and body”. Her engineer’s education helps her make the most of choreography, knowing the mechanics of movement, the strong points of support and the whims of gravity. Through her numerous performances, she introduced to the Bulgarian audience the pole and sparked dreams of many fans to touch the magic of Pole dance just like her.
